The Purple B***h is worth the trip alone — comes glowing at the bottom, tastes like a proper cocktail, and the pacing is right at 10 mg. Patio is beautiful and the 90s R&B playlist is doing serious work.
Ordered · Purple B***hOpened October 2019 as the first cannabis-licensed restaurant in the United States, the Original Cannabis Cafe helped write the playbook every California consumption lounge now follows. Set in a 220-seat indoor-outdoor space on North La Brea, with imported Spanish and Moroccan tilework and live hanging plants doubling as air filtration, the room is built for a long, slow visit rather than a quick stop.
Flower hosts work the floor the way a sommelier works a wine list — pairing strains to plates, rolling joints at the table, pacing service. The kitchen leans comfort: chicken and waffles, smash burgers, loaded fries, brunch on weekends. Infused drinks arrive from the beverage program at California’s 10 mg-per-serving cap, offered alongside coffee, teas, and non-alcoholic pairings. No liquor license — cannabis and alcohol don’t share a room in California, and the cafe was built inside that constraint from day one.
Every cannabis product is lab-tested and sold through the on-site dispensary side; food and cannabis are rung on separate checks, a workaround the cafe pioneered and other CA lounges adopted. All guests 21+ with valid ID.
Flattened seasoned chicken, buttermilk waffle, hot honey.
Double patty, American, house sauce, pickles, fries.
Seared ahi, crispy shells, avocado, sesame slaw.
Cheese, scallion, house sauce, jalapeño.

Ordered · Purple B***hSo glad they reopened. Staff is friendly, the flower hosts actually know what they're doing, and the food is better than it needs to be. My favorite consumption spot in LA.
The infused lemonade was excellent and the ahi tacos were the standout. Service on a Saturday was slower than I'd like, but the vibe on the patio made up for it.
Ordered · Infused LemonadeFood was fine, drinks were good, but the check adds up fast — cannabis prices are on the high side and everything rings separately. Come for the experience, not the value.
Celebrated a birthday here. The chicken and waffles were a real dish, not a gimmick, and our server walked us through the flower menu without any pressure. Loved it.
Had a 9pm reservation and wasn't seated until 9:30, then told at 9:50 that cannabis orders were closing. Felt rushed the entire time. The room is gorgeous but the service needs work on busy nights.
