Good Titrations

Fairbanks, AK · Fairbanks · The pioneering Alaska cannabis cafe — a licensed grow, retail store, and onsite consumption lounge under one roof · $

About

Good Titrations opened its Fairbanks retail store in May 2020, and on April 20, 2021 it flipped the switch on Alaska’s first fully operating onsite consumption cafe. For a stretch after that, Anchorage Daily News and the local Alaska Cannabist called it the only cannabis cafe in the United States, full stop.

The venue was built inside a former Chili’s restaurant off the Johansen Expressway, then relocated to Merhar Avenue — keeping the sports-bar layout the whole way. The building holds all four ends of the operation under one roof: a licensed show-grow cultivation room visible through a big glass window from the retail floor, the retail store itself, a scratch kitchen, and the endorsed consumption lounge with couches, booths, TVs on for football and rugby, and a small cafe bar for coffee and non-infused food. Alaska’s onsite rules cap what a patron can consume — 1 g of flower, 25 mg of edibles, or a 0.3 g vape cart per day — and Good Titrations trains its budtenders to work through those limits with first-time visitors.

The programming leans local: album releases, comedy nights, a Tuesday chess club called Bishops & Buds, and the annual 4/20 party. Co-owner Brandon Emmett has been open that the payoff of building the country’s first cannabis cafe was less about the day-one numbers than about proving the model — Fairbanks as a mecca for cannabis tourism — and half a decade in, the store is still the anchor of the Alaska on-site scene.
